Hands-On Training
Effective dog training • CUSTOM solutions • REAL EXPERIENCE
Our philosophy is that a balanced training method focused on handler relationship, with as few food and toy lures as possible, yields the most stable and happy dogs. We emphasize the importance of clear hand and voice commands, productive body language, and good timing.
We use exclusively Herm Sprenger prongs for training collars, and professional level E-Collars are an option - we’d love to show you how to use them like an expert does. We will help make sure the dog is conditioned properly, and if there are any special accommodations needed we are happy to discuss either at the evaluation, or on the phone.

"I am super grateful. Matt is the Jedi Master of service dog training. Training required a lot of hard work and commitment - but it is so incredibly rewarding - I cannot thank them enough for giving me a new outlook on life with my dog. Best decision I ever made."
“Matt's approach to training focusing on the relationship was key for me. Ace has changed my life and I have Matt to thank for helping me develop Ace into the amazing service dog he is today.”
“I used to be so scared to take her on walks. Now, she has definitely become a much happier and healthier dog and I literally owe it to Matt for helping me and getting my confidence back. It has been life changing!”

Our Blog & Tips
Unlock the potential in every canine companion with our effective and hands-on solutions, regardless of size or behavioral challenge.
There's many factors, but a six week training package is our minimum recommendation for new dogs, or dogs with behaviorial needs. We'll need to do a behavior assessment to know for sure! In our experience, fewer than 6 weeks of lessons (with daily practice from you!) is not likely to yield reliable or long-term results.
We specialize in working with dogs displaying aggressive behaviors, including those that have been turned away by other trainers. Our experienced team employs specialized techniques and personalized approaches to address and manage aggressive tendencies, fostering a safer and more harmonious relationship between you and your furry companion. An in-person behavior assessment must be performed before forming a plan and booking training, and dogs with bite history must be fit to wear a basket muzzle.
We do behavior assessments as soon as 12 weeks old.
Training can begin as early as 7-8 weeks old, focusing on basic commands and socialization. However, dogs of any age can learn new behaviors and benefit from training.
We utilize balance training philosophy, a highly effective training methodology that
teaches a dog desired behaviors using both meaningful rewards and fair corrections. We can show you how to reward without food - it takes a little more effort, but the results are worth it! A correction might be a light tug on the Herm Sprenger prong collar, or a vibration from a professional quality E-Collar; every dog is different! We have over 10,000 hours of dog handling and instruction, and it is our passion to help you find the perfect balance.
Note: knock-off equipment is strictly prohibited and we will not condone or participate in any training using inappropriate equipment. This is for the safety and consistency for your dog!
If you or your dog have any special health considerations or you're worried about how your dog would fit into our training philosophy, we will be happy to discuss with you at the behavior assessment.
Yes, consistency is crucial for success. We provide guidance and techniques during sessions, but reinforcing training at home helps solidify behaviors and speeds up progress.
We offer assessments to understand your dog's needs, allowing us to recommend a suitable program. Factors like age, temperament, and specific behavioral concerns are considered to tailor the training approach.
